    finally friday...

    finally got my passport picture taken {i've been putting this off forever; so glad it's finally done!}

    and

    finally saw the movie 'sixteen candles'  {yeah, i know it's like 20+ years after it's release but, still}

    there's a little theater in downtown winter garden that's showing old movies every weekend all summer long.  they have a theme each weekend; this weekend is coming of age flicks {sixteen candles; ferris bueller's day off; and beach blanket bingo}.  lori and i both bought season passes so we are set for the summer.  it's totally small town but, i love it!

    guilty pleasures...

    this morning ming and i were talking about what we were going to watch on tv tonight (what can i tell you? we both like our tv shows!) and i happened to mention that tonight is the finale for 'farmer wants a wife' and that i was looking forward to it.  after much good natured {ahem} ribbing, ming commented that he couldn't believe that i'm hooked on this show and that it seems out of character for me.

    what can i say?  i'm multi-faceted; you just never know what i've got up my sleeve!

    this got me to thinking....what are you watching, reading, or listening to that might surprise your friends?

    come on, fess up!  your guilty pleasure can't be anymore embarrassing than mine.

    the eye of the beholder

    i'm learning to see things differently these days.  actually, i think i've always seen things a little differently than most but, now, this is new.

    nothing but love for this girl

    002

    a friend of mine lost her 'girl' yesterday.  it was sudden and unexpected.  she and her husband are devastated.

    i knew that something was wrong as soon as i saw the subject line of her email.  i cried as i read the details and i cried even more as i tried to find the right words to express how sorry i was.

    the moral of this story: life is short and unpredictable.  grab your girl or boy {human or canine} and give them some extra love today.

    and to my friends girl, rest in peace. you were and will forever be very much loved and missed.

    lens envy

    last weekend i got a text from natalie telling me that she had just bought a 50mm 1.4 lens.

    i was down in south florida at the time sitting in the parking lot of a junkyard {more on that later} waiting on ming and M to finish up.  ming gets in the car and i'm all like.. 'omg! i just got a text from natalie....she got a new lens...i have to find out more!"  he's like so, call her.  i'm all "i'm trying but, she's not answering..."

    must. know. more. details. now.

    i'm in a frenzy of excitement, jones-ing for more info.

    days pass by.  still no details.

    i'm starting to get a complex.

    maybe my repeated phone calls, voice messages and rapid fire questions were too much? {although, in my defense she knows all about my immediate gratification gene, cause she SO has it too, so she knows not to tease me with a snippet of mouth watering info and then disappear}

    5 days later.  {i've moved on somewhat by this point, i'm not completely pathetic} we finally get to talk.  natalie apologies for being so busy {something about work? teaching summer school, meetings, and a grad school class?}  um.  whatever. hello? priorities?  of course, i totally forgive her for making me wait so long and we chat all about her new found love.  and i'm so jealous.

    we hang up and i head straight to amazon.com to check out this baby. one click and she's in my shopping cart {there's that darn IG gene again}.  i'm giving myself a pep talk and saying that i'm going to get serious and take advantage of all the great resources that are at my fingertips and learn more about my camera and photography.  i've got countless articles, books, and classes that i've taken at my disposal {not to mention all of the photography blogs that i peruse on a daily basis.}  i can do this.  i will do this. starting right now.

    and then, i remember that tonight is elimination night on 'so you think you can dance'.

    third time's the charm

    due to circumstances beyond my control (kinda sorta) i saw SATC again on sunday.  still love it but, i think i'm done now.  really, i'm good.  =)

    i still am loving the intro song by fergie, 'labels or love'.  i've listened to it on my ipod about a hundred times.  ok, maybe more like 20 or 30, it just seems like a hundred.

    and....i didn't cry this time around.  {ahem... yes, my eyes were a little damp in a few scenes but, i'm not counting that...}

    more SATC....

    just back from seeing SATC for the second  time with some of the girls from work; can't remember when i last saw the same movie in a theater twice.  good stuff.  =)

    have you seen it yet?

    one out of two

    004

    ok. so i don't know if the problem is with me? or with typepad?

    anyway.... here's one of the photos from the storm a few days ago.  check out that crazy split!

    this and that

    we've been having major thunderstorms here the past two days.  the first one was late last night and did some damage to one of my neighbors trees.  it could have been a lot worse and hit the entire tree but, still it's sad to see a huge branch like that taken down.  i took a few photos (that for some reason typepad isn't wanting me to insert, grrrr....) one handed while walking molly so they aren't the best but, i wanted to capture what i was seeing.  i'll try to post them again later...

    Sex and the City (2008)

    SATC. everyone is talking about it.  everyone loves it.  we saw it saturday night and i'm totally on board that bandwagon.

    IT. WAS. GREAT.

    if you haven't seen it yet, you should.  i wasn't a huge fan of the show when it was on HBO; i caught it here and there and liked it when i saw it but, that was really about it.  ming is actually the one who was pushing to see this {sorry, hon...} but, i'm so glad he did because it was the best movie i've seen in a long time.  i might even see it again with some of the girls.  yep.  it was that good.  oh, one thing, bring plenty of kleenex.

    canon is having their annual instant rebates on some of their lenses.  amazon.com always has good prices on there lenses but, with these rebates on top of the already discounted price, it's crazy what some of them are going for....

    this little baby is going for around $350 which    is nearly     half off!  let me say that again....HALF OFF.  it might have to come home with me.  can i afford it right now, um... no; will i have to eat mac and cheese for weeks to pay for it? um... yes; is it worth the sacrifice? totally!

    i'm using a new creamer in my coffee and it's so yummy!  i know that coconut is one of those flavors that divides people {either you like it or you don't} but, if you do this is delish!

    i stumbled upon this book last week when i was out doing a little shopping and getting in a little girl time with lori.  it was really good;i couldn't put it down for 2 days until i finished reading it.  this same author has 2 other books (yay!) and a blog;  she's highly entertaining and a great summer read.

    totally have the cruising bug after watching the travel channel all day on sunday when they were running back to back episodes about cruising.  ming was illin' all day so we laid low and watched show after show.

    in the meantime, i'm starting to get really excited about out upcoming trip to NYC.  there is so much to see and do, it's crazy! i hardly know where to begin.  i think it's going to be a really fun weekend!

    so.....what's new and exciting with you?

    lazy days

    totally spending the day being lazy. =)

    ming and molly are napping and i'm watching the 'army wives' marathon on lifetime.  i started watching this show last summer when nothing else was on and ended up getting totally hooked on it.  i know, i know, it's totally out of character for me since i'm not really a military enthusiast but, trust me it's good.  {oh, and don't let john mccain's endorsement scare you off either.}

    new episodes start tomorrow night @ 10pm on lifetime.  set your dvr, you won't be sorry!  =)
